Lionel Messi, the World Cup winner, advertises Solana Memecoin Water

  • Lionel Messi, a football legend, has been added to Solana memecoin Water’s list of marketing accomplishments.

Lionel Messi, an FC Barcelona legend and captain of Argentina, advertised Solana memecoin Water (WATER) to his 504 million Instagram followers through his account. The tale was also uploaded on Water’s Instagram page, and an official representative affirmed Messi’s formal endorsement of the project.

Following the publication, WATER saw a roughly 60% surge, according to CoinGecko data, but the gains have since tapered off to just 4.5%. The cryptocurrency was introduced two weeks ago, and as of right now, DEX Screener reports that it has a market capitalization of $73.6 million and a daily trading volume above $105 million.

In today’s meme ecosystem, celebrities and memecoins are starting to go hand in hand, with everyone from musicians to professional fighters entering the market.

With pledges to support international charities and research institutions, Water aims to differentiate itself from the competition. The Solana-based aqua project, which raised an estimated $42 million in SOL during its pre-sale, is also the first to announce a partnership with a prominent player like Messi.

The developer of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, had previously advocated for improved meme initiatives with a clear end objective of social good.
