Ethereum dapp Status and Linea work together on the Layer 2 network

  • In order to introduce its own Layer 2 rollup, Status, a decentralized messaging platform built on Ethereum, is collaborating with Linea.
  • Contributors to status will aid in the continuous engineering on Linea, with an emphasis on prover decentralization and client diversification.

A Layer 2 rollup solution is being introduced by Status, a decentralized messaging network powered by Ethereum, in collaboration with Linea, backed by Consensys.

In order to fund its native SNT token, Status raised $100 million during its 2017 ICO. Consensys, a blockchain development company, supports Linea, a zkEVM Layer 2 blockchain that was introduced last year.

According to a press release shared with The Block, they are working together to construct the Status Network, a Layer 2 network that will function alongside Linea’s zkEVM chain. A key developer at Status, Cyprien Grau, stated, “We hope to establish the framework required to sustain a flourishing, decentralized ecosystem of applications and services with the launch of Status Network.”

Additionally, in order to maintain a parallel version, Status contributors will actively interact with Linea’s open-source coding.

With an emphasis on enhancing client and prover support as well as facilitating interoperability between Status Network and Linea, Status’s team will also assist with the ongoing engineering development on the platform.

Nicolas Liochon, the Global Lead for Linea, stated, “Given Status’s contributions to Ethereum’s fundamental operations and their customer-facing emphasis through the Status app, our cooperation with them is a perfect fit.” The well-liked Ethereum consensus client Nimbus, which is currently under development, will be modified to operate as a Linea client.

The alliance will assist efforts in public funding, social applications, GameFi, and governance experiments in addition to focusing on decentralizing the sequencing and proving procedures for Linea.
