Crypto game “Nyan Heroes” made its debut during Epic Games’ launch, breaking onto the top 30 most-played list with 200,000 downloads

  • More than 200,000 people downloaded “Nyan Heroes,” a web3 game that for two weeks during its pre-alpha phase ranked in the top 30 most played games on the Epic Games Store.
  • Early in the following year, a complete PC version of the game with NFT integration is anticipated.

The long-term success of the cryptocurrency video game “Nyan Heroes” is still far from clear, but its developer, 9 Lives Interactive, believes there are many reasons for optimism following the game’s restricted, pre-alpha release on the Epic Games Store.

More than 200,000 people downloaded the web3 game “Nyan Heroes” during its two-week tenure on the well-known online gaming store, placing it among the top 30 most-played games, according to 9 Lives Interactive. One of the most anticipated games to be “wishlisted” on the Epic Games Store is also mentioned for this title.

The CEO and creative director of 9 Lives Interactive, Max Fu, stated to The Block that there were still a few bugs and jank in different areas of the game. However, our ultimate goals were to create a fluid and well-executed gaming experience, ensure that every significant element of our primary gameplay loops was there, and determine whether or not the experience was pleasurable.

The developer states that “Nyan Heroes” had a limited pre-alpha run from March 26 to April 9.

Driven by Unreal Engine 5, the video game is a mech shooter with cat pilots. Despite the fact that players can already purchase, sell, and exchange in-game items, NFT integration is not present in the game’s current build.

Both off- and on-chain

Fu stated that with this year’s second significant upgrade, the “functionality” of the marketplace should be operational. “We have plans to have both on-chain and off-chain assets being traded freely within the same in-game marketplace,” Fu continued.

Early in the following year, 9 Lives Interactive hopes to release the PC version of the game in its entirety. Players will eventually be able to personalize their gaming experiences and exchange in-game items in a market area. But according to Fu, players who want not to interact with NFTs will still be free to enjoy “Nyan Heroes” and won’t be compelled to use the blockchain features that the game will provide.

Despite the fact that majority of the players that downloaded the game weren’t web3 players, Fu stated that his team was generally happy with the pre-alpha’s outcomes.

Fu stated that in order to provide more people the opportunity to download and play “Nyan Heroes,” the game will be relaunched on the Epic Games Store in a few weeks, based on the pre-alpha’s success.

Early-access versions of cryptocurrency video games like “Shrapnel,” “Illuvium,” and “Star Atlas” that are still under production have also been listed by Epic Games in the past.

Founded in 2021, 9 Lives Interactive was once known as Rude Robot Studios.
