Bitmain Unveils Antminer S21 Pro: Breakthrough Efficiency at 15 Joules per Terahash

  • Bitmain’s introduction of the Antminer S21 Pro represents a notable advancement in bitcoin mining technology.
  • With its impressive hashrate of 234 terahash per second (TH/s) and energy efficiency of 15 joules per terahash (J/T), the S21 Pro surpasses previous models in terms of performance and sustainability.

Bitmain, the leading producer of bitcoin-specific ASIC mining equipment, has introduced its latest innovation, the Antminer S21 Pro, setting a new benchmark in energy efficiency for cryptocurrency mining. Revealed during the World Digital Mining Summit (WDMS), this cutting-edge device boasts a remarkable hashrate of approximately 234 terahash per second (TH/s) while operating at an unprecedented energy efficiency of 15 joules per terahash (J/T).

The Antminer S21 Pro represents a significant leap forward in mining technology, surpassing the efficiency standards set by its predecessors. Unlike the previous Antminer S21 model, which delivered 200 TH/s with an efficiency of 17.5 J/T, the S21 Pro offers enhanced performance with 234 TH/s and a reduced energy consumption of just 15 J/T. This unveiling at the WDMS held in Oman underscores Bitmain’s commitment to advancing the capabilities of bitcoin mining hardware.

Furthermore, Bitmain’s announcement coincides with the news of the Antminer T21 units being sold out as of March 19, 2024. Additionally, the company highlighted the versatility of its hydro-cooling solutions, showcasing how mining operations can generate heat to support auxiliary activities such as fish and shrimp farming, as well as greenhouse operations. Notably, Dongguan Jingyi Trading Co. exemplifies this integration by running a hydro-cooled mining facility in Central Asia alongside a vast fish farm covering 3,000 square meters.

The introduction of the Antminer S21 Pro heralds a new era of efficiency in cryptocurrency mining. While detailed pricing information was not available on Bitmain’s website at the time of the announcement, estimates suggest that the machine will cost approximately $18.90 per terahash with a coupon, translating to an estimated unit price of $4,422.60.

This unveiling comes as the crypto community anticipates the fourth Bitcoin halving event, which will reduce the block reward to 3.125 bitcoins per block, underscoring the importance of maximizing mining efficiency in a changing landscape.

Bitmain’s unveiling of the Antminer S21 Pro marks a significant milestone in the evolution of bitcoin mining technology, with its groundbreaking efficiency of 15 joules per terahash setting a new standard for the industry. As cryptocurrency mining continues to evolve, innovations like the S21 Pro pave the way for greater sustainability and profitability in the mining sector, reaffirming Bitmain’s position as a pioneer in ASIC mining equipment.
