- $3.2 million has been raised in a seed round by RISE, the Gigagas Layer 2. Finality Capital is leading the round, which was completed last month.
Other participants include Orange DAO, DACM, ether.fi Ventures, P2 Ventures*, MH Ventures, and Public Works. Along with a number of well-known web3 creators, angel investors include Vitalik Buterin, Stani Kulechov, Anthony Sassano, alias sassal.eth, and DCF God.
The Gigagas Era begins when RISE surpasses 1 billion gas per second, surpassing the performance limits of Megagas. This discovery opens up new options for web3 programs and has far-reaching consequences for gaming, social networks, DeFi, and DePIN.
Sam Battenally, Hai Nguyen, and Sasha Mai, seasoned web3 builders, formed RISE. Loi Luu founded Caliber Venture Builder, a venture studio, to serve as its incubator. Since 2023, RISE has been in development with the goal of offering a notably superior solution to the scalability issue.
In order to increase throughput and reduce latency, execution and state access improvements are crucial to unlocking the RISE stack. Regarding execution, RISE created the fastest EVM executor available to the public, pevm, an open-source Parallel EVM engine that will be included into Reth.
The Continuous Block Pipeline, another element of the RISE Stack, continually executes L2 transactions as it waits for L1 consensus, guaranteeing complete CPU use with no idle time. Using a Versioned Merkle Tree to reduce disk compaction and RiseDB, a delta-encoded log-structured database, to reduce state access complexity, RISE addresses state access.
Decentralization and Ethereum alignment are given top priority by RISE. RISE anticipates that 32 Gigabytes of RAM will be sufficient for full node operation due to its streamlined database and state access mechanisms. Next year, RISE also intends to introduce Based Sequencing, a decentralized method of Layer 2 block sequencing.
With the RISE internal testnet, developers can now begin creating high-performance apps.
