ZK-Rollup Taiko Achieves A $2 Billion Fully Diluted Valuation By Airdropping A Token

  • It is now possible to claim about 50 million tokens, or 5 percent of the total supply.

Taiko, a Layer 2 scaling network, launched the cryptocurrency at a fully diluted valuation (FDV) of $2.1 billion and a market capitalization of $110 million, marking the beginning of the first phase of its token distribution plans.

But the token has had a rough start, falling 40% to $2.20. With respect to market capitalization and FDV, its token valuation places it at the 15th rank among Layer 2 networks.

Taiko is a rollup that allows for faster and less expensive use by moving computation and transactions off the Ethereum mainnet. It makes use of a technique known as “zero-knowledge” technology, which verifies transactions from Layer 2 onto the mainnet.

Additionally, according to the team, the protocol is Ethereum-equivalent, meaning it can communicate with the Ethereum blockchain without the need for extra tooling, compilation, or audits.

Airdrop Claimers

Developers, Github contributors, members of the DEX Loopring community, and Taiko proposers—who decide which transactions occur first in a block—provers—who demonstrate how a block changes from one state to another—and bridgers—who enable users to lock ETH and receive funds on Taiko—are among the eligible users.

The team stated on X today that users must bridge ETH to Taiko in order to pay gas fees before they may get tokens. The deadline for filing claims is July 5.

10% of the overall supply has been set aside by Taiko for their forthcoming Trailblazer program, which is intended for people who were not eligible for the airdrop this round. those that “explore” the ecosystem are rewarded by the program, and those who interact with the community and the protocol will receive a number of extra benefits.
