Zero-Knowledge Proof on the Mainnet is Verified by Bitcoin Rollup Protocol BOS

  • A major technological leap has been made with the successful verification of a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) on the Bitcoin mainchain by BitcoinOS (BOS).
  • This update adds more capability and scalability to Bitcoin without changing its core architecture.

ZK Proof is Verified by BOS on Bitcoin

Bitcoin.com News was informed by BOS, a system for interoperable and trustless Bitcoin rollups, that it has reached this milestone, potentially doing away with the requirement for Bitcoin Improvement Proposals. One of the first permissionless updates for Bitcoin, according to core contributor Edan Yago, opens the door for more effective and decentralized network development.

According to Yago, BOS significantly reduces or maybe eliminates the need for Bitcoin Improvement Proposals in order to implement changes to Bitcoin, such as covenants. This facilitates real decentralization and opens the door for other developers to expand on Bitcoin more effectively.

Near-trustless layer-two (L2) rollups are made possible by the recently introduced BitSNARK technology in BOS, which allows developers to validate zero-knowledge proofs (zkSNARKs) on Bitcoin. This makes it possible to build bridges between L2 rollups and the Bitcoin mainchain and to create conditional payments.

In contrast to current models, the team told Bitcoin.com News that BOS relies on a decentralized operator set to provide robust protection against threats, even those posed by a coalition of nation-states. By combining the security of Bitcoin with the features of other networks, this invention puts BOS in a position to potentially pull the altcoin ecosystem back to Bitcoin.

The BOS core contributor stated, “We are honored to enable the sector to realize the initial Bitcoin promise of a trustless peer-to-peer digital money system for the global community, while perpetually remaining a decentralized, immutable, and secure bedrock of economic truth.”
