Blockchain Capital, a cryptocurrency venture, has spearheaded a $33 million Series C fundraising round for Yellow Card, an African stablecoin exchange.

According to a release, Nigeria-based Yellow Card, a Coinbase portfolio company, has now completed equity financings totaling $85 million. Coinbase and Yellow Card teamed at the start of this year to increase product accessibility in 20 African nations.

The recently acquired funds will be used to finance Yellow Card’s development and expansion, with a focus on improving its API and widget offerings, which serve as entry points into the African market for foreign companies like Coinbase and Block.

Polychain Capital, Third Prime Ventures, Castle Island Ventures, Block, Inc., Galaxy Ventures, Blockchain Coinvestors, Hutt Capital, and Winklevoss Capital were among the other participants in the Series C.

This fundraising effort not only shows how resilient we are, but it also emphasizes how important digital assets are to African businesses.
