The well-known cryptocurrency enthusiast and former CEO of ShapeShift, Erik Voorhees, has introduced Venice, an artificial intelligence platform with a privacy focus.
Venice does not save user data, although it does provide features like generative chat and image creation. Furthermore, Venice wants to remove all censorship off the platform. The company’s CEO, Voorhees, is joined as COO by Teana Baker-Taylor, a former vice president of stablecoin issuer Circle.
Voorhees, the company’s only investor, told The Block that Venice doesn’t require outside capital. There are six employees in the company right now.
Voorhees points out that although Venice is based on user sovereignty and privacy, it is not a cryptocurrency app. Nevertheless, the platform leverages web3 infrastructure for end-to-end encryption and local browser storage, together with blockchain technology for permissionless payment.
As it launches, Venice will make use of the Morpheus decentralized AI network, and Voorhees said that anyone with a MOR token currently has access to a free Pro account.
Prior to this, from May 2022 until February 2024, Baker-Taylor was Circle’s vice president of policy and regulatory strategy for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In addition, she held the roles of General Manager UK for Crypto.com and UK Director for the cryptocurrency exchange Binance.
The ideas and the way we communicate them shouldn’t, and cannot, be the next thing that businesses or governments control. At Venice, we value our users and don’t want to snoop on them, store their ideas or data in a honeypot, or sell their information to outside parties.
