- Tether, the company that issues stablecoins, said it has introduced Hadron, a platform for tokenizing real-world assets that enables users to tokenize “anything.”
- The tokenization of equities, bonds, stablecoins, and loyalty points is particularly mentioned by Tether.
On Thursday, Tether, the company that issues stablecoins, announced the debut of Hadron, a platform for tokenizing real-world assets that will let users tokenize “anything.”
From simple reference goods like fiat-pegged or commodity-backed stablecoins to more intricate solutions like digital asset collateralized tokens, including basket-collateralized products, Tether’s new platform seeks to provide a wide range of asset kinds.
Tether hinted that “anything” might be tokenized on the platform, even as it emphasized in its statement that users could tokenize stocks, bonds, stablecoins, and loyalty points. It is even possible to tokenize land, valuable artwork, or jewelry (watches and other high-end goods).
Tether’s introduction of Hadron is just another step in its diversification strategy beyond its primary business of issuing USDT, the largest U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin in the world with a $133 billion supply.
Tether has invested in a variety of sectors, including agriculture, in addition to looking into prospects in conventional banking and commodities trading.
We’re simplifying, securing, and scaling asset tokenization.
The startup Plume Network is also tokenizing a variety of assets, such as solar farms, private credit, Medicaid-backed invoicing, and mineral rights, in addition to Ripple’s implementation of capabilities for tokenizing real-world assets. AgriDex, a RWA platform, reported in July that it helped move 200 bottles of olive oil and several cases of wine.
