- Neal Stephenson co-founded the metaverse project Lamina1, which is joining forces with Another World, a web3 company based in South Korea.
- The action comes after Lamina1’s parent company, Open Metaverse Limited, acquired Another World in an all-token transaction.
Author Neal Stephenson of “Snow Crash” founded the metaverse project Lamina1, which announced on Wednesday that it is merging with Another World.
Through token exchanges and focused onboarding aimed at energizing their community, Lamina1 stated that it intends to integrate Another World’s community of more than 500,000 token holders, investors, metaverse builders, developers, and enthusiasts into the L1 ecosystem in the upcoming weeks. In an attempt to expand the Lamina1 Hub platform, another World staff member will join Lamina1.
Early in 2023, Rebecca Barkin was appointed CEO of Lamina1. In addition to Stephenson, Peter Vessenes, a co-founder of the Bitcoin Foundation, was also a co-founder of Lamina1. Reid Hoffman, a co-founder of LinkedIn, and Ripple are among Lamina1’s investors.
In general, it seems that since Mark Zuckerberg chose to rename his tech company Meta, interest in the metaverse has decreased. However, a number of businesses, including Lamina1, Decentraland, and The Sandbox, have been expanding their ecosystems in the hopes that the metaverse would expand rapidly in the years to come.
Another World has been working on a number of on-chain/open metaverse experiences for the past two years, such as “GROUNDI,” an M2E app that has received over 150,000 downloads, Another Arcade is a collection of fun mini-games that ranked in the top 10 of all Google Play apps, and NO ONE ESCAPE is an exciting race competition game.
Additionally, according to Lamina1, owners of Another World’s AWM token will have nine months to switch to L1 and begin activating inside the L1 ecosystem.
