The “most distributed” Solana airdrop is GRASS, with over 1.5 million addresses claiming tokens

  • With around 1.5 million addresses claiming it, the GRASS token airdrop is currently the most claimed Solana airdrop to date.

Dune Analytics reports that the number of addresses that have claimed the GRASS token airdrop has increased to about 1.5 million. In terms of the total number of addresses that now possess tokens, that would make it the biggest token airdrop on Solana to date.

The token’s first decline on Monday caused Solana’s biggest wallet, Phantom, to go down.

Due to timely connections, up to 2.8 million wallets are eligible to receive GRASS coins, the recently released governance token for the DePin project based in Solana. Nevertheless, Andrej Radonjic, CEO of Wynd Labs, a major contributor to Grass, said that approximately 5 million addresses will eventually get additional chances to acquire tokens.

Jupiter, a popular decentralized exchange, set the previous record for the largest Solana airdrop with 639,000 claimants.

However, it should not be assumed that GRASS is the most extensively distributed coin in terms of the number of holders, as individuals may have several wallets and blockchain. It is uncommon for there to be more than one million addresses eligible for an airdrop.

GRASS uses data validation and scraping to train AI bots. According to reports, the mobile app and browser extension that gathers and purifies website data have been downloaded by millions of users. GRASS tokens are given to users as rewards.

Your bandwidth has previously been hijacked by companies that pay developers to sneak software inside your free apps. After that, they turn around and let AI firms and F500s utilize your smartphone to collect useful online data.

Users are now getting network ownership for sharing their bandwidth for the first time ever. In an industry that has relied on extractive incentive structures for more than two decades, this defies the norm.

Additionally, the token will be used to pay for bandwidth and stake on the protocol to help web traffic move throughout the network.

The protocol distributed 100 million GRASS (10% of the total supply) to community members and early node runners during the first epoch of the GRASS airdrop “season.” Those who used the network to earn more than 500 Grass Points received the majority of those tokens, or 9%.

According to CryptoRank data, GRASS’s Linear Unlock procedure is expected to last till 2028. 0.01% of the whole supply, or 146,200 GRASS, will be unlocked every day between now and October 28, 2025, which might put long-term selling pressure on GRASS’s price.

At the current trading price of little under $1, GRASS is valued at about $1 billion when completely diluted.

Grievances

The airdrop hasn’t impressed everyone. According to numerous industry participants, Wynd made the airdrop too simple to farm, which resulted in a large number of tokens going to those operating extensive bot operations. Numerous well-known users claimed to have received a few hundred dollars from the airdrop.

Grass utilizing your bandwidth through their extension is a use case that has been compared to malware by others. In response to that specific critique, it has undergone a rigorous certification procedure with AppEsteem, a top cybersecurity company that guarantees Grass does business morally.

Joining the network is relatively simple, and this is a purposeful feature. A smooth onboarding procedure is necessary to create an internet-scale web crawl that is owned by millions of users worldwide. The network has the finest sybil filtering since it is based on IP addresses and device fingerprints.
