Sekai, a startup focused on generative AI storytelling, revealed on Thursday that it has secured $3.1 million in a seed round headed by Hashed.
With the use of generative AI and the Story Protocol, Sekai hopes to transform storytelling into a “multiplayer experience” in which aspiring storytellers may collaborate with others on its platform. Sekai wants to give creators the capacity to safeguard and profit from the intellectual property they produce at the same time.
Originality is not given priority by the large IP monopolies and conventional IP frameworks. In order to enable creators to experiment with new types of collaborative storytelling outside of conventional silos, we are fusing blockchain secured-IP with AI.
Thought leaders in the technology and entertainment sectors anticipate that artificial intelligence will fundamentally alter the process of creating new media and who creates it, as the popularity of chatbots and generative AI tools that enable the rapid production of images and films continues to grow. A16z-backed Story Protocol, a Layer 1 blockchain largely created by PIP Labs, has been promoted as a vehicle for tokenizing intellectual property and making it programmable in the age of artificial intelligence.

Sekai’s seed round comes after the company won this year’s ETHDenver general hackathon. According to a release, a16z CSX, Azuki, Orange DAO, and Zypsy are among the other players in the round. This year, Sekai also took part in the a16z CSX startup accelerator.
