“Notcoin” Releases Accelerator to Support Upcoming Wave of Crypto Games on Telegram

  • Notcoin hopes to further expand the rapidly growing portfolio of cryptocurrency-backed Telegram games with the assistance of AI-powered analytics company Helika.

A game on Telegram Notcoin revealed that, in the project’s largest step yet to grow from a viral sensation into a cornerstone of the rapidly expanding ecosystem of cryptocurrency-backed small apps, it has teamed up with a well-known analytics company to create an incubator for the next wave of Telegram games.

On Wednesday, Notcoin and AI-driven analytics startup Helika revealed that Notcoin will soon launch a Telegram Gaming Accelerator.

Co-founder and CEO of Helika Anton Umnov said in a statement made public that “this is a major milestone for Helika to support our current and future customers building on Telegram.”

For game developers of all sizes, Helika sees a huge opportunity to take advantage of global user acquisition and establish more meaningful connections with their audience.

The program will concentrate on creating micro apps that run on The Open Network, Telegram’s preferred blockchain network, and are integrated into the well-known chat app Telegram.

Such game developers will benefit from the Telegram Gaming Accelerator. Up until now, these developers have typically followed a straightforward but alluring road map: Attract over 900 million users to Telegram with simple games, then give them airdrops of actual cryptocurrency tokens as a reward.

The first Telegram micro app to successfully use that tactic was Notcoin. The NOT cryptocurrency shot beyond a $2 billion market capitalization in a few of weeks after it was introduced in May as part of an airdrop for Notcoin participants. As of this writing, NOT’s market capitalization has decreased to $1.3 billion.

Other initiatives quickly adopted the creative strategy. A similar Telegram-based game called Hamster Kombat, which basically entails pushing a button nonstop, has seen an accelerated surge in popularity in the past month. An other recent Telegram micro app to get viral is called Catizen, which is a button-tapping frenzy with a cat theme.

The team at Notecoin had always intended to go beyond creating a single popular game and instead create the infrastructure necessary for a plethora of similar games to spread via Even before the NOT token debut, Telegram was used for months.

Sasha Plotvinov, one of the co-creators of Notcoin, previously said about the company’s future plans: “We want it to become the Netflix of social, viral games.”

Plotvinov went on to say that he intended to turn Notcoin into a kind of hub for the creation of competitive, humorous, viral, and lively social crypto games that run on Telegram in the future.

With today’s announcement, the initiative moves one step closer to its objective. The company Helika, with which Notcoin has teamed to launch its gaming incubator, has already collaborated with Yuga Labs, the creator of Bored Ape Yacht Club, and gaming behemoth Ubisoft to both successfully integrate cryptocurrency components into game play and assist in marketing those experiences.

In an effort to expedite the integration of cryptocurrency technologies into games developed by both emerging and more established companies, Helika unveiled a $50 million venture capital-backed cryptocurrency gaming accelerator in March.

While there may be some overlap and resource sharing between the previously announced program and the Telegram-specific incubator, the two efforts are distinct—meaning they will not be receiving funding from the same sources, a spokesman from Helika informed.
