- Blade Games, a ZK onchain game engine developer, raised $2.4 million in initial money.
- Dune Factory, a proof-of-concept game from Blade Games, will begin a private alpha test in early May and a public test in late May.
The $2.4 million seed fundraising round for Blade Games, an on-chain game studio and infrastructure supplier, was successfully concluded. Along with participation from Bonfire Union Ventures, Animoca Ventures, Mantle, ForesightX, Formless Capital, Public Works, Puzzle Ventures, K300 Ventures, and other investors, PTC Crypto and IOSG Ventures are co-leading the round.
The funding will support the creation and uptake of trustless onchain games that leverage the zkVM and WebAssembly technology stacks.
Co-founder of Blade Games said, “We have developed a ZK onchain game engine, initially powered by zkWASM, where anyone can build their onchain games with C++, Go, Rust, and C# code.”
Onchain game developers can personalize their L2/L3, DA layer, and zkVM selections using our game engine.
The zk game engine from Blade Game allows developers to run their logic in a zkVM and publish state differences as zkSNARK proofs onto the blockchain, where they are subsequently validated on L2s. Up to 12–15 frames per second may now be processed by the ZK game engine, and proof batching tools will be available soon.
Many game studio clients are presently using the engine to create survival (0xPioneer), tower defense (Dune Factory), role-playing, and roguelike deck-building games. The group also intends to support DA layers like Eigenlayer, Avail, 0G, and Greenfield, as well as zkVMs like RiscZero.
The first trustless onchain game powered by ZKP in the industry is the proof of concept game, Dune Factory. The gameplay of the game combines tower defense with automation, and players can develop bases, engage in arbitrage, and go on PvP raids to earn prizes.
May 1st is the date of Dune Factory’s Alpha Test. In order to give themselves an advantage for the upcoming Public Test in late May, players with invite codes will have the unique chance to try out the gameplay.
