- Ragnarok: Landverse, a cryptocurrency game that spins off from the original Ragnarok Online experience, will debut on Ronin alongside Pixels and Axie Infinity.
Early in 2025, the Ethereum sidechain gaming network Ronin will host the release of Ragnarok Landverse, a blockchain-enhanced massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) based on the original Ragnarok Online franchise.
After first soft-launching on BNB Chain, the Ronin version, known as Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis, is scheduled to deploy on Ronin. According to developer Maxion and Ragnarok publisher Gravity, the game has already accumulated over 400,000 players and almost $15 million in NFT revenues before the Ronin expansion.
The gameplay of the free-to-play PC and Android game Ragnarok Landverse is comparable to that of the well-known and famous MMORPG Ragnarok Online, which debuted in 2002. But this version includes blockchain features like token payouts and mineable resources.
Assets from other Landverse servers won’t be transferred at first because the Genesis version that launches on Ronin is regarded as a “fresh start” for the game. However, a later migration to Ronin is planned for these servers.
As part of this expansion, Zentry, the parent firm of Maxion, will also keep a validator node on the Ronin network. Building a “metagame ecosystem” of interconnected Web3 games is how the company defines itself. In April of last year, Zentry changed its name from GuildFi.
After Ragnarok: Monster World, Landverse will be the second Ragnarok game to be released on Ronin. The popular Clash Royale game from Supercell served as the model for that smartphone game, in which two players control groups of monsters and send them into combat in an attempt to be the first to destroy the opponent’s base.
One of the most well-known gaming networks in the Ethereum ecosystem is Ronin. Major cryptocurrency games like Pixels and Axie Infinity, the latter of which was made by the network’s development firm Sky Mavis, may be found there. The network has steadily grown to incorporate even more games from outside developers since its debut with Axie Infinity.
Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis is currently accepting pre-registrations, and users can link their Ronin digital wallets to get possible incentives before the game launches.
DeLabs Games revealed another blockchain game set in the Ragnarok universe in November, with intentions to release it through the Telegram messaging platform in the first quarter of 2025.
