- In a July 31 update, the messaging software Telegram unveiled a mini-app store, an in-app browser that supports decentralized webpages, and other enhancements.
Along with other changes, the crypto-friendly communications platform Telegram has released a browser and a little app store.
Telegram CEO Pavel Durov stated on the messaging app that users can move between websites and platform messaging via the browser, which includes decentralized websites known as TON -0.97% Sites.
Decentralized websites hosted on TON are supported by Telegram’s browser in both native desktop apps and all mobile apps. The Telegram team stated on Wednesday in a blog post that Web3 is now instantly accessible to its almost one billion monthly users as a result.
Along with enhancements to the app store, including search capabilities, developer previews, and the ability to share mini apps into user-generated content called Stories, Telegram users may now send Stars—units of the mini-app payment system—to their friends.
On July 19, Durov first declared his intention to launch the mini-app store and in-app browser. This year, a lot of games on Telegram became popular. One such game is Catizen, a web3 tap-to-earn that generated $16 million in in-app purchases.
The Open Network’s native cryptocurrency Toncoin (TON), which traded at $6.79 after recording a 1.05% growth in the last 24 hours, is used by Catizen and Telegram’s other popular game, Hamster Kombat.
