- “MetalCore,” an open-world shooting game developed by Studio 369, was released on the Immutable zkEVM blockchain.

The web-based third-person shooter game “MetalCore” was released on the Immutable zkEVM blockchain.
“MetalCore” is the first game that can be played on a blockchain. According to an official announcement, the game is currently in its second closed beta session, which restricts the number of players, and runs from April 9 to April 22.
By the end of 2024, “MetalCore” is anticipated to begin its open beta. It will be accessible for PC users through the Epic Games Store, which also sells well-known titles like Fortnite.
“MetalCore” is a free-to-play game that takes place in a future in which rival groups battle it out for resources in space. While competing against other players or the environment, users select which group to join.
Immutable X and Immutable zkEVM are not the same thing. The web3 infrastructure company Immutable created both blockchains, but Immutable zkEVM allows smart contracts to deliver EVM ZK-rollup for Polygon-powered games.
Starkware powers Immutable X, which is not compatible with smart contracts. Immutable zkEVM’s mainnet became live in early access mode in January 2024, while Immutable X debuted in April 2021.
Despite the option for users to omit web3 components, “MetalCore” is powered by the cryptocurrency MCG. Gamers can acquire MCG and exchange it for NFTs. “Marks” are an additional in-game currency in the game that may be obtained via completing social tasks, in-game contracts, and guild system participation.
In March 2024, “MetalCore” developer Studio 369 secured $5 million in funding from Bitkraft Ventures, Delphi Digital, Sanctor Capital, and Spartan Group.
