Today saw the debut of the liquid restaking project Mellow for the Symbiotic restaking protocol.
As was previously mentioned in Lido’s governance forum, Mellow will be a component of Lido Alliance.
Mellow markets itself as a modular framework for building LRTs with a range of permissionless vault smart contracts that provide depositors some discretion when withdrawing money.
Mellow gives depositors greater freedom to choose how much risk they want to take on while still enjoying the liquidity of their staked assets. The team says, based on their documentation, that this is accomplished by dynamically altering methods within each vault based on current market conditions and risk evaluations.
For individuals looking to resume, risk management is crucial because more exposure to AVS increases the risk of further cutting. Mellow aims to solve this by letting depositors select the risk profile that best fits their needs by having “curators” develop varying risk profiles and decentralizing the construction of LRTs.
Mellow will be the flagship LRT for Symbiotic, which debuted today as well. Eigenlayer is the main rival of Symbiotic in the fast expanding liquid restaking market. EigenLayer now has a total value locked in of about $20 billion.
The platform will function within the ecosystem of actively validated services offered by Symbiotic.
In 2020, Mellow was founded with funding from Cyber.fund. Its first fundraising event took place in 2021, with Robot VC, ParaFi, and Arrington Capital leading the charge.
