First ‘Power-Level Over 9,000’ Airdrop With $10 Million in Tokens Revealed by Saga

  • Heavy gaming on tier 1 network As it gets ready to tease airdrops from more than 100 partners, Saga is dishing out more SAGA prizes.

Saga is a gaming-focused layer-1 blockchain that recently generated a lot of buzz for the debut of its mainnet and token by rewarding DeFi stakers on multiple networks and launching a play-to-airdrop campaign.

The rewards don’t end there, though. Saga is currently launching its newest wave under a catchy advertising name.

The “Power-Level Over 9,000” airdrop campaign, which got its name from a “Dragon Ball Z” allusion that went viral online, was first unveiled in April, according to Saga. It depends on alliances with over 100 projects on many chains, including decentralized games and applications.

Holders of SAGA tokens who stake them within the network will receive bundles of crypto tokens and NFTs from those partners as part of the campaign. Saga said on Thursday that it has already taken the first picture of SAGA token holders for the first batch of incentive “vaults” that will be sent to qualified users.

The Saga network captured the snapshot on April 26 at block 262,311; wallets that satisfy the requirements will eventually get 3 million SAGA, or $10.2 million at the current price of $3.40.

A portion of the prizes will be distributed to SAGA users who staked more than 101 SAGA, or more than $340 at the current price, or who staked at least 95% of their SAGA genesis airdrop from the mainnet launch on April 9.

A four-fold “loyalty bonus” will be awarded to Genesis airdrop participants who staked at least 95% of the initial drop in exchange for keeping and staking their tokens.

The first “vaults” of token awards from Saga are not yet known to be distributed, but the network’s team has stated that a claims page would be launched approximately a week before the distribution.

Furthermore, before to the larger scheduled slate of partner airdrops, the “first few vaults will be used to refine eligibility criteria.”

Around 10% of the total cache, which will now be used for incentives, is represented by this first vault drop, as more than 30 million tokens from the Genesis airdrop, according to SAGA, went unclaimed. According to the blog post, an additional 110 million network tokens have been set aside for awards and airdrops.

Additionally, Saga previously declared that it has over 100 partner projects scheduled to donate tokens and NFTs for upcoming drops across chains. The first-person shooter Shrapnel, which runs on Avalanche, and the Ethereum titles The Sandbox and Wilder World are among the partners that have been announced.

Saga is marketed as a “layer-1 to launch layer-1s,” indicating that projects can build their own dedicated chains on top of the network rather than having everything constructed on a single mainnet. Additionally, it is made to work in tandem with other chains, enabling projects to expand across networks and utilize Saga’s “chainlets” structure as required to serve their applications.

About 80% of testnet projects had a gaming theme, while many weren’t solely gaming-related, and Saga used gaming tournaments to distribute airdrop allocations.

Additionally, as CEO and co-founder Rebecca Liao said that the team has started its own internal game publishing company named Saga Origins, which aims to produce games that are thought-provoking, expansive, and uncompromising.
