Coinbase registers to list futures for AVAX, SHIB, and other tokens with the CFTC

  • Five additional filings for futures products tethered to DOT, SHIB, XLM, AVAX, and LINK were made by Coinbase.
  • Trade in the products is scheduled to begin on July 15th or later.

The massive cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is looking to expand its derivatives exchange to include popular altcoin futures.

Coinbase filed five more submissions with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for futures products related to DOT, SHIB, XLM, AVAX, and LINK, according to the company’s website. The exchange selected July 15th or later as the trading date for the products.

According to a Friday press statement from Coinbase, the addition of AVA, LNK, DOT, XLM, and SHB gives our participants and their clients additional entry points to control risk, make predictions about market trends, and take part in the cryptoeconomy with lower upfront capital needs. This expansion can improve our users’ overall trading experience in addition to diversifying our product line.

With a market valuation of $11.1 billion, AVAX has the biggest value among the five coins. At the time of publication, AVAX was trading at $28.18, up 0.48% over the previous day.

SHIB’s market capitalization, which was $10.1 billion at the time of trading, was the second highest among the five. It decreased by 2.96% to $0.000017 within that same period.
