Chainlink, a decentralized computing platform, has launched Transporter, an application designed to facilitate the seamless movement of crypto tokens and messages between different blockchains. Powered by Chainlink’s cross-chain interoperability protocol (CCIP), Transporter aims to provide users with a straightforward interface for initiating and monitoring cross-chain transactions.
The app was developed in collaboration with the Chainlink Foundation and developer Chainlink Labs. Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov highlighted the significance of Transporter in providing a secure method to transfer both value and data across chains, something the blockchain industry has long been seeking.
Transporter’s Multi-Chain Support
Transporter supports token transfers across various blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, Optimism, and Polygon. The app does not impose additional fees beyond existing transaction costs and CCIP service provider fees, making it an attractive option for cross-chain transactions.
Early users of the app include venture capital firms Fourth Revolution Capital and Moonrock Capital. Nomatic, an investor at Fourth Revolution Capital, expressed confidence in Transporter’s potential to quickly become the standard for cross-chain enablement for high-value use cases.
Moonrock Capital CEO Simon Dedic also voiced enthusiasm for the app’s role in bringing secure cross-chain connectivity to a large user base.
New CCIP Token Transfer Tool
In addition to launching Transporter, Chainlink introduced a new CCIP token transfer tool that enables the cross-chain transfer of native ETH through WETH token pools. This marks the first implementation of a lock-and-unlock mechanism within CCIP.
Chainlink first launched its CCIP in an early access phase on Avalanche, Ethereum, Optimism, and Polygon in July 2023. It later integrated Circle’s cross-chain transfer protocol (CCTP) with CCIP for USDC stablecoin transfers across different blockchains in January 2024.
Through the introduction of Transporter and its new token transfer tool, Chainlink continues to enhance cross-chain interoperability and pave the way for more efficient, secure, and user-friendly blockchain connectivity.
