Aligned Layer Raises $2.6M to Improve Ethereum’s Performance with Cost-Effective Validity and ZK Proofs

  • Aligned Layer’s approach focuses on enabling cost-effective and efficient verification of ZK proofs on top of EigenLayer, which allows users to restake ETH for higher rewards.
  • This technology aims to enhance Ethereum’s settlement capabilities, facilitating the development of new applications like bridges, rollups, ZK machine learning, and on-chain gaming.

Aligned Layer has successfully secured $2.6 million in funding from a group of investors led by Lemniscap, alongside Paper Ventures and Bankless Ventures. This funding marks a significant achievement for the company as it seeks to advance Ethereum’s capabilities by making it a more efficient and cost-effective settlement layer for validity and ZK (zero-knowledge) proofs.

The project aims to leverage the security of Ethereum validators without the limitations of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), providing a faster and cheaper platform for verifying proofs. Aligned Layer’s technology will accelerate Ethereum’s development and offer developers new opportunities to create trustless and scalable applications such as bridges, rollups, ZKML, and on-chain gaming.

RJ, one of the founders of Aligned Layer, expressed excitement about the support from the investment firms: “We are delighted to have the backing of Lemniscap, Paper Ventures, and Bankless Ventures as we work towards making Ethereum the premier settlement layer for proof verification.”

The company’s innovative approach represents a major step forward in making zero-knowledge and validity proofs more accessible and practical for the blockchain ecosystem.

Oliver Blakey, Co-Founder of Paper Ventures, emphasized the transformative potential of the project: “Aligned Layer’s work in enhancing Ethereum’s efficiency and expanding the applications of ZK proofs is exactly the kind of cutting-edge technology we at Paper Ventures are eager to support.”

Currently, Aligned Layer is in the testnet phase with a proof of concept involving Cosmos SDK. The company plans to launch its mainnet by the end of the second quarter, aiming to accelerate Ethereum’s roadmap and establish Aligned Layer as a key player in the field.

Aligned Layer’s team consists of experienced cryptographers and distributed services experts, supported by influential advisors from industry-leading projects.

The successful funding round will enable Aligned Layer to continue its mission to become the fastest and most cost-effective settlement layer for validity and ZK proof verification on Ethereum.

Accelerating Ethereum’s Advancement

With the successful funding round of $2.6 million, Aligned Layer is well-positioned to accelerate Ethereum’s progress by offering a cost-effective and efficient platform for validity and zero-knowledge proofs. By transforming Ethereum into a superior settlement layer, Aligned Layer’s innovative technology will pave the way for new applications and advancements in the blockchain ecosystem.
