Alchemy and Worldcoin collaborate before the introduction of World Chain

  • In order to support the architecture of its own World Chain blockchain, which is scheduled to launch soon, Worldcoin announced that it has teamed with Alchemy.
  • The web3 programming platform from Alchemy will be available to World Chain developers.

The web3 infrastructure platform Alchemy has formed a partnership with the human-verification project Worldcoin, in advance of the World Chain blockchain’s introduction in the upcoming weeks or months.

According to a release, World Chain developers will collaborate with Alchemy and immediately gain access to a full and comprehensive web3 development platform that includes indexing solutions, core and data APIs, and a variety of other resources developers need to power their apps.

Steven Smith, Head of Protocol at Tools for Humanity stated that the Alchemy developer toolset is the most extensive web3 toolkit that we are aware of.

The Worldcoin project is mainly being developed and pushed by Tools for Humanity, a firm created by Alex Blania, the CEO of the company, and Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI.

The Worldcoin Foundation declared in April that it would introduce World Chain, a brand-new Layer 2 blockchain. The Worldcoin project is being created with the new blockchain in mind, which will award World IDs to those who are prepared to have their eyeballs scanned as a means of proving they are human. On its website, the project states that about 6 million people have signed up.

According part of the Superchain, World Chain will collaborate with Optimism, Coinbase, and the larger Ethereum community, according per the statement released on Wednesday.

World Chain will serve as the new location for World ID and World App, pending their relocation from OP Mainnet, where Worldcoin frequently occupies more than 50% of the available blockspace.

According to Worldcoin, the new blockchain is expected to go live at some point this summer.

Noam Hurwitz of Alchemy stated that the company’s alliance with Worldcoin is part of a bigger plan to get more regular internet users onchain. He continued, “Using rollups—a crucial piece of infrastructure on which we are collaborating—is the fundamental way to scale blockchain applications and obtain more block space.”

According to the Worldcoin Foundation, World Chain is designed to be “optimized for real humans instead of bots, with World ID holders gaining priority blockspace and free gas allowance for casual transactions.”
