- Police have now located and identified Kevin Mirshahi’s body, despite the fact that his death had been suspected since at least August.
- Only Mirshahi was still missing after she and three other people were first abducted in late June.
According to local media, Canadian police have determined that a body discovered in a park in Montreal is that of 25-year-old cryptocurrency influencer Kevin Mirshahi.
Police have now located and identified Mirshahi’s body, despite the fact that his death had been suspected since at least August of this year.
According to The Montreal Gazette, Mirshahi and three other people were kidnapped from a condo building in Old Montreal towards the end of June. The following day, Mirshahi was still gone, but the others had returned safely.
That is, until October 30, when a bystander discovered his dead at the Île-de-la-Visitation park in Montreal.
Crypto Paradise Island was the name of the investment company that Mirshahi owned and ran. In 2021, the Autorité des marchés financiers, Quebec’s investment regulator, launched an investigation against the company. According to The Montreal Gazette, the regulator ordered Mirshahi, his company, and two associated persons to delete their social media posts and prohibited them from engaging in broker or investment adviser services and securities transactions on July 4, 2024.
A 32-year-old woman was detained by police in August on suspicion of being involved in both the kidnappings and Mirshahi’s death. Among other things, she is accused of first-degree murder.
